Spoilers for the Third Season of "House" with Hugh Laurie may come from several types of sources, none of which are totally reliable, not just because their information may be wrong but often just because when you get early information from say an early version of a script, you can rest assured that that information will change in later versions of the script and even during the filming process. Some information may come from journalists and others who hear from people who have heard from people who have heard from people who are involved in the writing or production of the "House" TV show — and we have all played that game.

October 29, 2006: "Rickashacka" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from "spoilerfix:
"HOUSE: Episode 3.11 will be titled 'Words and Deeds.' In this episode, the team deals with a fireman named Derek, who began having strange symptoms, such as being freezing, while fighting a fire. They diagnose him as having a bacterial infection and male menopause, and give him some medicine which causes an allergic reaction, making him become violent. He then begins having heart attacks so the team continues to brainstorm. They think they have finally figured out what is causing his symptoms and do a procedure which causes him to lose most of his memory, including his family and his firefighting training. Meanwhile, House is in court, pleading not guilty, with the same lawyer (Howard Gemeiner) as from episode 3.06, regarding gaining control of medication by fraud. He then is in rehab, where he takes up smoking in place of his opiate addiction. Lt. Mike Tritter has been investigating House and when previously suggesting rehab, House threw him out of his office. When the team calls House in the middle of his trial, he gets up and walks out, causing the judge to hold him in contempt when he returns after consulting at the hospital with his team. After a surprise revelation from Cuddy, the charges are dropped, then House is taken into custody to spend the night in jail for his contempt charge."

"House spends most of it [the episode] in a wheelchair, we meet a new 40ish woman researcher at PPH whose snark seems equal House's, we learn House's winter car is an old Chrysler and Cameron and Chase walk in on a couple having sex."
October 28, 2006 (5th): TV Guide's AskAusiello had this:Question: "Got any upcoming House scoop?" — Kaila
Ausiello: "Dr. Crabby is going to find himself in a court-ordered support group for drug addicts. And for that he can thank one David Morse."
October 28, 2006 (4th): "merlin7" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from TV Guide - this week there is a lot about "House" including the cover:
- "Okay, in the TV Guide, Jesse has a bit moment in the article and says that there's a less relaxed vibe on the set this season because they all know how sharp and smart and *On* they have to be because of the greater popularity of the show. In the ep shooting that day, Chase gets a fist in the face from House, who's feeling punchy from being off the meds. He says the pressure House is experiencing pushes him to be more of the rabid dog he already is."
- "House downs a self-prescribed Vicodin during Tritters exam. And that it doesn't help that House keeps the patient waiting too long with a thermometer dangling, and not the oral type of thermometer."
- "There is mention that Wilson is targeted in particular by Tritter's investigation since he believes Wilson has something to hide. RSL says Wilson does."
- "And Cuddy could be forced to sacrifice the life of a patient to save more lives in the future."
- "Cuddy's mating dance with House will continue at it's painful pace. LE once hoped Cuddy would have a relationship with House. Now she hopes she has a relationship that merely complicates her relationship with House. "
October 28, 2006 (3rd): "amysusanne" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from a Fox Press release (which we missed) about November Sweeps which included the following about "House":
- "With a month of all-new medical mysteries and guest star David Morse, HOUSE opens November Sweeps in a big way when a 600-pound man, George Hagel (guest star Pruitt Taylor Vince), is admitted to the hospital after he is found in his apartment in a coma. George believes his problems are unrelated to his weight and wants the team to come up with another explanation, but his size makes testing difficult. It's not until House has a physical altercation with his patient that the case becomes clear. Meanwhile, after House is arrested, Officer Michael Tritter (guest star Morse) puts the squeeze on the good doctor, searching his home for evidence of drug abuse and questioning Wilson about House's relationship with Vicodin in the "Que Sera Sera" episode airing Tuesday, Nov. 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)."
- "The next all-new November Sweeps HOUSE call, "Son of Coma Guy" (Tuesday, Nov. 14, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), features guest star John Larroquette as Gabe, a man who has been in a coma for 10 years. Noticing something 'off' about Gabe's visiting son, Kyle, House conducts a mini-experiment that leaves the boy unconscious. When symptoms point to a possible genetic condition, House and his team must glean a family history from Kyle's only living relative his comatose father. Meanwhile, Wilson confronts House about stealing his prescription pad, and Tritter (guest star Morse) questions Cameron, Foreman and Chase, dividing the team and revealing where their individual loyalties lie."
- "Patrick Fugit ("Almost Famous") guest-stars in the Tuesday, Nov. 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) outing of HOUSE, titled 'Whac-A-Mole,' as Princeton Plainsboro's newest patient and heart attack victim, 18-year-old Jack. Barely an adult himself, Jack has been the parent to his younger brother and sister since their parents died. After a brief perusal of Jack's file, House thinks he's got the diagnosis, seals it in an envelope and turns the process into a game, challenging Cameron, Foreman and Chase to figure it out on their own. When Jack is given an option that would lead to a possible reprieve from his worsening illness, he's faced with a decision that could break up his little family forever. Meanwhile, in an attempt to extract a confession, Tritter (guest star Morse) makes it almost impossible for Wilson to practice medicine, driving a friendship-ruining wedge between House and Wilson."
- "In 'Finding Judas' (Tuesday, Nov. 28, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the final November episode of HOUSE, the team takes on the case of a young girl admitted with pancreatitis. When her divorced parents won't agree on how to proceed with her treatment, House takes the parents to court to have a judge make the decision for them. Meanwhile, Detective Tritter's (guest star Morse) investigation intensifies after he offers Foreman a deal to come clean about House's drug use."
October 28, 2006 (2nd): "donkeykong" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum information about "Son of a Coma Guy":
- "Wilson confronts House about stolen perscriptions. House doesn't seem to be taking ANY of this Tritter stuff seriously. thinks since Wilson lied about it, it's over."
- "Tritter interogates all the ducklings."
- "House and Wilson and a coma guy, not THE coma guy, a vegetative state guy (VSG) who House wakes up, go on a road trip to Atlantic City. The VSG guy wants a hoagie from a famous hoagie place he used to go to before he was in a VS. (10 years prior)"
- "House needs to know his medical history to help his dying son (i.e. the title) but VSG will only answer a question if House answers a question. We find out why House became a doctor."
- "Wilson's bank accounts are frozen due to an ongoing police investigation."

Sept 16, 2006: "marykir" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum a link to an article in The Fresno Beeon a Prop:
"The Fresno Film Commission worked with producers of Fox television series 'House' to produce a calendar prop that will be featured on Tuesday's episode. The calendar features 12 images of Fresno, including shots of a farmers market and the SaveMart Center.
"There are few details of how the calendar will be used in the episode. All that is known is that Dr. House (Hugh Laurie) will look at the calendar.
"Originally, all that was needed was one Fresno image. The decision was made to create a full calendar because the character of House tends to fidget. That means he could look beyond the one page.
"The local film commission was contacted in July about the television prop."

"'One of the things we are exploring just for the first couple episodes
of the season is: How much is House defined by his pain?' Shore
explained in a phone interview from Hollywood.
"'I think the answer is: To some extent. But I think what we are
exploring is the reality of human nature, which is that none of us is
as simple as we like to believe.'"
Sept 2, 2006: "spidysense" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum a link to a NewsDay article about the House/Wislon dynamic (dated September 3, 2006) which had the following in this long interesting piece:
"What began as an investigative pairing in the vein of Sherlock Holmes and his handy Dr. Watson only intensifies emotionally this fall, enriching the character byplay that's been attracting ever-greater ratings to 'House' even through this summer's reruns.
"'It's the Holmes-Watson thing we were hoping for,' says executive producer Katie Jacobs, in pairing veteran Broadway featured player Leonard with British TV mainstay Laurie, a quick wit known for both writing and absurdist humor ('A Bit of Fry and Laurie'). 'The chemistry of the two of them is so brilliant that it's something we spend a lot of time with now.' Jacobs says 'House' script honcho David Shore, who just won an Emmy, has become attuned to 'mining what they have to offer and who they are and how it can work.'
"...That delight comes across on screen, watching the two chew into their thrust-and-parry. 'I've changed,' House tells Wilson Tuesday, thanks to the season-ending gunshot wounds that have triggered a stunning new physicality for the once-gimpy character. 'No, you haven't,' Wilson shoots back. 'No, I haven't,' House brightly snaps. Wilson can't figure why his patient-averse colleague has taken 'a case with no upside except the satisfaction of helping another human being.' House says, 'I don't remember you being this bitchy.' Wilson's reply: 'The Vicodin dulled it. In the sober light of day, I'm a buzz-kill.'
"He may indeed be. The ostensibly amiable Wilson 'is not quite the straightforward good man and true that you imagine that he is,' Laurie hinted.... 'Obviously, it'll turn out Wilson's the more interesting character than House. House'll burn out and I'll be kicked off the show.'"

Question: "I know Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Morrison, Lisa Edelstein, Jesse Spencer and Omar Epps were working the red carpet at the Emmys. Please say you got some Season 3 scoop from one of them?" — Lizzie
Ausiello: "Poor naive Lizzie. Don't you know by now that the actors are the last ones to know what's coming up on their show? The producers are where the scoop's at, and, lucky for us, House exec producer Katie Jacobs was in a chatty mood on Sunday. She revealed that David Morse's cop character 'starts out as a patient' at Princeton Plainsboro. 'He comes into the clinic and House is House, and Morse just thinks this is not OK. House basically just pisses off the wrong guy. We filmed a scene the other night where he's stationed on a corner and House is driving home on his bike and gets pulled over for reckless driving, and House pops a Vicodin.' And House isn't the only one who gets drawn into Morse's vendetta. As series creator David Shore teased, 'We're going to learn a little bit more about [Cameron, Foreman and Co.] through this detective. He's going to be checking them out, too.'"

Question: "What scoops do you have on the House premiere?" — Denise
Ausiello: "House asks Cam out on a date! It's true! I watched the first episode (airing Sept. 5) over the weekend and I had to rewind that particular scene to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and, well, I wasn't. He definitely offers to take her out for dinner and drinks. (Of course, there's a twist. There always is with those two.) Speaking of Cam, it looks like the flirty little minx sprouted bangs over the hiatus, not to mention a new, sexier wardrobe and a few extra layers of makeup. Oh, and in the opening seconds, we're going to see House do something he's never done before. Well, at least we've never seen him do it before."

"In actual spoilerish news, the Aug. 28th TV Guide has a one page preview article on House, which says:
- House will display some 'shocklingly humane behavior' but 'he finds there's more to his usual irascibility than a sore leg.'
- David Shore says the first two episodes 'deal specifically with what happens when House starts to live without pain.
- According to Jennifer Morrison, House's personality change 'kind of knocks [Cameron] off her game.'
- David Morse's storyline starts in November. He 'suspects House is stealing pills and illegally overmedicating." According to Shore, 'House pissed off the wrong guy ... It'll be a really fun cat-and-mouse game.'
- While House's Vicodin addiction is explored, Shores says 'the arc is less about Vicodin, although that's the core of it, and more about House's character--his stubbornness and his refusal to admit weakness.'"

House Exclusive: David Morse Joins Cast!
"Here's some fresh House prattle for you kids: The show has recruited former Hackster David Morse for a multi-episode arc. According to exec producer Katie Jacobs, Morse's character — a cop named Michael Tritter — will face off with Hugh Laurie in a battle of egos. 'House is going to piss off the wrong guy, and that guy just happens to be a cop,' Jacobs reveals. '[Tritter's] really going to hold House accountable. We're going to have some fun with that.'"

Question: "...give me House scoop!" — Laura
Ausiello: "Finally got some good House-Cameron (Hameron?) dirt for you kids. Exec producer Katie Jacobs hints that the season premiere could mark a major turning point for the star-crossed MDs. "In the first episode," Jacobs previews, "Cuddy gives [House] Ketamine. I don't want to reveal how temporary or to what degree it works, but it does have some success. Now, Cameron has always been attracted to House — in his opinion because he's wounded. So, I think House is gonna want to know from Cameron if [her feelings are the same] if he's healthy and walking around. And what will that relationship be if he's no longer that wounded puppy?"
Question: "Any news on House? Please tell me Cameron and Chase will finally get together.... You know, when she's not high." — Elizabeth
Ausiello: "Make up your minds, kids. Do you want Cameron with Chase or with House? (Sounds like the makings of a great TVGuide.com poll!) I know which way Jennifer Morrison (Cameron) would vote. Although she was a no-show at Fox's press-tour bash last week, an adorably tongue-tied Hugh Laurie delivered — or, rather, attempted to deliver — a message on her behalf. Here's our exchange:
Laurie: I'm going to tread here very carefully because Jennifer is actually still working. She asked me to say... can I say this? Because it's going to get her into such trouble. I'm going to have to let her say it. She will get her opportunity to say it.
Ausiello: C'mon, give me a hint.
Laurie: She is keen to see aŠ aŠ. aŠ development of the relationship we hinted at before. She put it more graphically.
Ausiello: She wants to see House and Cameron have sexual intercourse?
Laurie: Wow! I thought there were whole steps [leading] up to that, but you went right there.
Ausiello: How do you feel about it?
Laurie: I feel as awkward as [House] does. It's inappropriate in so many ways, and yet if two people are attracted, then I suppose there's not much you can do. But I'm 50 times her age and I'm her employer and I can't see good things coming from it. |

July 28, 2006: - "spidysense" posted on the Television Without Pity's House Forum
"The POTW [Patient of the Week], Erza, is a 70ish world famous scientist who had several important papers published in his career. He's been working a particularly promising project involving cancer the past few years, but his theories haven't panned out in the experimental phase. We open with him in his lab, surrounded by lab rats. He opens one up, hopeful it might bring good news, but it's only more disappointment. He finds tumours. Not what he wanted to see. In the meantime, he's coughing and shaking as we see his lungs fill with fluid, and he falls unconscicous. One of the rats starts biting his lip.
"This is major role (played by Joel Grey), so there is much focus on him.... his condition is serious enough that Ezra would rather die than find himself helpless and incapacitated. House of course, will do anything and everything he has to - to find out what's wrong with him. Against Ezra's wishes. House pleads with him at one point to give him another day to find out what's wrong with him, promising Ezra that if he doesn't figure it out, he'll personally help him die. They don't come up with an answer by then, but House won't give up and attempts to tell Ezra they think they know what's wrong with him, just to try and buy more time...but Cameron gives the lie away with her eyes. Anyway, Ezra insists he has the right to die. House tells him he'll help him and loads a syringe of morphine - enough to kill him. Ezra is at peace with that, but of course Cameron isn't, nor is Nurse Brenda who sees this unfolding...Foreman is against it as well. They try and pull House away etc...the kind of struggle we've seen before. Tensions ensue.
"Anyway, House gives him the morphine and he goes into cardiac arrest. House knew this would happen, but he had also planned to revive him all along, lying to Ezra that he would help him die. So he brings him back and keeps him in a coma to buy time for more tests. Ezra doesn't know this of course. Cameron is digusted, and Foreman is sure she's run off to tell Cuddy. In the meantime, Nurse Brenda saw the entire thing and they are sure she's calling Cuddy and whoever else she might have to call.
"Meanwhile, Cameron has gone to Ezra's lab to see what she can find and she collects several bags of dead rats and also brings many of his old journal articles, lab books and dictations back to PPTH to comb through and read.
"The team is struggling to figure out what is wrong with Ezra, after the usual false positives and misleading results. Because of his condition (unconscious) there are certain tests they can't perform that would help confirm the lastest theory, so House decides they have to
wake him up. Needless to say, Ezra is NOT happy that he's not dead. He and House do have respect for one another, as they understand each other, and even though Ezra knows House won't stop until he finds his answer, Ezra won't give in. He wants to go home and die. As this is going on, Cameron has had a chance to go through Ezra's work over the past few decades and she discovers that he was irradiating babies for experimental purposes without the informated consent of the parents. I think we all know how well this goes over with Cameron. She angrily confronts Ezra about it and he explains that if the parents knew what he would doing, they never would have consented and the breakthoughs that came about because of the studies would never had happened. The results of studies did help many other sick children and lead to new and better treatments, but Cameron thinks he was morally and ethically wrong to do it.... House is House and is obsessed with solving his puzzle. Which he does. And in the end, it's not good news.
"There is one clinic patient, Mark, who comes in with what turns out to be a cold. That's nothing special, but what is special is his "smoking hot" 17 year old daughter (Ali) who comes onto House in big way. It's no secret she wants him. As she is leaving the clinic, House drops some papers and Ali helps him pick them up, with much sexual tension in the air. Cameron happens to walk in just then, and the atmosphere does not go unnoticed by her. She's really talking about Ezra, but she shoots Ali a look and says 'he's too old and weak.'
"Ali comes back to the hospital with her father to get more meds and finds House getting a candy bar. They banter a bit and she asks why he hasn't returned her calls etc. House says he will. In a few years. Ali tells him he doesn't have to wait a few years, only 6 months. That's when she turns 18. House doesn't know whether he's flattered, frightened or turned on by her attention to him.
"Later we see House wearily coming into his office, where he finds a wrapped gift on his desk. He opens and sees it's a calendar, with the date of Ali's birthday circled. He hesitantly tosses it in the trash, but then he has a change of heart and digs it out. Tossing it on his desk.
"Just note - House's pain and cane are back."

from other sources indicate that in the scene described in yesterday's entry, House is testing out A theory as to why the a patient in a wheelchair might have driven it into his swimming pool and so he enters a fountain and later shows up soaking wet at Cuddy's place to tell her he has solved that problem.

"...So apparently my sister was giving her boyfriend a tour of our alma mater UCLA at midnight on Friday, and noticed a film crew of about 30 people around the fountain on the main quad, she sidled up and asked what was being filmed and the security guard said "House something or other." and so she stood around trying to see into the center of the crowd, when the director yelled that's a wrap and the crowd started to break up. So then she sees Hugh climbing soaking wet out of the fountain itself, which he'd been splashing around in. She says he was wearing black shorts and a black tee-shirt and there was no cane to be seen anywhere--which of course she noted. I have no idea what plot would involve swimming in a campus fountain, sans regular clothes and cane--but it sounds painfully intriguing."

Ausiello: "The show went back into production today. 'Tis all I got."

June 20, 2006: Some detailed Season 3 spoilers from NJ.com: Everything Jersey with The Star Ledger (to see the whole article, you have to give them zip code, birth year & gender):
Speaking about the hallucination part of the last episode Shore "says, 'I really do think of that stuff in the middle as very real. House isn't debating with some jerk who shot him, he isn't debating with his staff, it's all in his own mind, but it's a very real debate within himself about how he should live his life.'
"...Shore suggests that House read a medical journal article about ketamine, which inspired the part of the fantasy where ketamine cured his leg pain -- and which will lead to the first arc of the new season.
"'We're going to go somewhere with it,' he says. 'They're going to try that, and have some success with it.'
"Note the 'some,' since whether or not the pain is completely or permanently cured, Shore promises, 'ultimately, we're not going to change him (emotionally). House is who House is. I think he was probably that way to a great extent before anything happened to his leg.
"But even a temporary respite for House would also be one for Hugh Laurie.... hobbling around on a cane for 22 episodes a year when his legs are perfectly fine is taking a physical toll....
"One element from the finale that won't be carried over to the new season is the identity and motivation of the man who shot House. (Elias Koteas, who played the shooter, won't be back.)
"'I was more interested in House's view of why somebody might shoot him, instead of, frankly, a mundane reason,' says Shore. 'A guy who shoots you is crazy. I don't care what his real reasons are.'"
June 15, 2006: Not a Spoiler
but we have news about the proposed extras on the Second Season DVD.
June 14, 2006: CanadaEast.com (Eastern Canada's Information Source: "Being shot won't make caustic House any nicer, says series creator"
"Being shot by an angry widower in the season finale won't trigger an epiphany for the cynical and sarcastic master diagnostician, says the Canadian-born creator of the hit show House.
"'We're going to go down that road a little bit, but people don't change,' David Shore said at the Banff Television Festival....
"'House looking at a blood test and seeing something on that blood test that shouldn't be there isn't that interesting. House realizing something about a person that we didn't know and thus coming up with the ultimate answer because of that character flaw: that's interesting.'
"...The brilliant pill-popping doctor, who munches Vicodin for pain in his leg, will see his addictions escalate during Season 3.
"'He's going to get in trouble with the drugs,' said Shore....
".I think in TV that rather than have characters evolve, you want to peel more of the onion away,' said Shore. 'It's still the same onion, but you show surprising aspects of it. You want to raise as many questions as you answer.'" (see more)
