Season 1 DVD

Spoilers for the Second Season of "House" with Hugh Laurie may come from several types of sources, none of which are totally reliable, not just because their information may be wrong but often just because when you get early information from say an early version of a script, you can rest assured that that information will change in later versions of the script and even during the filming process. Some information may come from journalists and others who hear from people who have heard from people who have heard from people who are involved in the writing or production of the "House" TV show — and we have all played that game.

For instance, there was a spoiler for the last scene of the first season of House (first idea was that it would take place in a bar and involve a bar fight in which House would be beaten up) that the producers decided to tone down and they thereby succeeded in making the last scene of the first season of "House" more powerful just through subtlety.

October 27, 2005: thefutoncritic.com is reporting on House episodes for November Sweeps:
"...all-new episodes of HOUSE, with guest star Sela Ward on Nov. 15, 22 and 29.

"The first November Sweeps outing of HOUSE, "Daddy's Boy" airing Tuesday, Nov. 8 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), offers an unexpected glimpse into House's past and present when he tries unsuccessfully to get out of a dinner engagement with his visiting parents. Meanwhile, a recent college graduate with daddy issues of his own drops at a graduation party from internal shocks. With his father at his bedside, it becomes apparent that the two have not been truthful with each other, and their trust issues affect how the medical team gets the information it needs to help solve the case.

"A famous pro bicyclist is brought in after collapsing during a race, but House, convinced that the athlete is taking performance enhancers and doping his blood, doesn't want to treat him. When the patient admits to doing drugs, House is intrigued. Meanwhile, House tries to jeopardize Stacy (guest star Sela Ward) and Mark's relationship by attending group therapy with the couple in the "Spin" episode of HOUSE Tuesday, Nov. 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

"Ward guest-stars in another all-new episode of HOUSE on Tuesday, Nov. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Kalvin, a gay man with full-blown AIDS, confronts House in front of his home and collapses into anaphylactic shock. When House discovers that Kalvin's father is suffering from unique symptoms of his own, he must figure out if they might be connected and solve the puzzle to save both their lives. Meanwhile, Cameron faces a potentially life-threatening disease of her own.

"House and Chase are in the extremely hot seat in the final all-new November Sweeps episode of HOUSE, "The Mistake" airing Tuesday, Nov. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), after a young mother with stomach pain dies. Months later, Stacy (guest star Ward) counsels Chase prior to his disciplinary hearing. She must determine if Chase made a mistake that ultimately led to the patient's death, and soon realizes that he is holding something back."
October 26, 2005: "Rychki" re-posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from TV Guide's Ask Ausiello:
The tables are about to turn on Dr. Crabby. As a result of something House does, he's no longer going to be in charge of the department — at least on a temporary basis. And if that isn't demoralizing enough, he'll find himself answering to one of his minions when he/she gets promoted to take over.
October 25, 2005: Blogcritics.org: Constructing House: An Interview With House, M.D. Writer Lawrence Kaplow which says this:
"He is currently writing an episode called 'Happiness' — safe money is on that being an ironic title — to air in the new year. 'House does some pretty outlandish things in this episode, and it raises the question: is this only about addiction or is he self-destructive?' he revealed. 'Does he have some sort of death wish? What does House want in the end?'"
There is also a partial transcript of the interview in which Kaplan says more completely:
"I'm writing an episode called 'Happiness'.... House does some pretty outlandish things in this episode, and it raises the question: is this only about addiction or is he self-destructive? Does he have some sort of death wish? What does House want in the end? Those are all questions that Wilson is going to put in his face. We're going to see how he responds, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun....
"Looks like it's going to be #12, so that's going to air in January. We start shooting beginning of November.'"
October 20, 2005: "Rychki" re-posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from TV Guide's Ask Ausiello:
Question: Any House news? — Em
Ausiello: The House-Stacy story is going to move to the forefront during November/December, building to Sela Ward's departure in January. Take it away, David Shore: "We have a fun episode coming up where House is going to have to kill a rat in her home, but House ends up curing the rat instead of trapping it. He deduces at some point that the rat's actually sick. But as a result of this, we throw House and Stacy into a domestic situation together. And in the episode right before that, House is going to find out through — I'd have to say — illegal means, how Stacy feels about him. He's going to do something incredibly unethical and inappropriate and learn something about her feelings toward him."
October 19, 2005: "Rychki" re-posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum information from TV Guide's Ask Ausiello:
Question: What is the scoop, er, poop on the possible relationship between Dr. Chase and Dr. Cameron this season on House? I have been seeing a lot of different spoilers floating around — one-night stand, nothing at all, etc. — Brittany
Ausiello: "According to exec producer David Shore, their hookup comes out of a crisis. 'Cameron deals with a patient who's made very different lifestyle choices than she's made, and she starts to wonder whether she's made the right life choices,' he says. 'So, for a moment, she decides to embrace life and, specifically, Chase.' And how does she feel the morning after? 'In many ways, she regrets it right away,' he says. 'But on the other hand, it was good.'"
October 12, 2005: TV Guide's Ask Ausiello says:
"Here's some House poop: Dr. Cranky is going to break the law in an effort to find out how Stacy really feels about him."
October 7, 2005: Spoilerfix is posting the following description for #207 "Pests":
"Stacey and Mark are having trouble in the bedroom, so she is taking it out House. Kalvin Ryan is HIV [positive] and won't leave House alone until he takes his case."
October 6, 2005: "amysusanne" re-posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum the following "from the 'devoted' board":
Nixon makes 'House' call
Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) will be a guest on an upcoming episode of the Fox hit House. She will be playing a patient who suffers a seizure and matches wits with House (Hugh Laurie). The episode is slated for December. House, on a break during the baseball post-season, returns Nov. 1 (9 p.m. ET/PT).
October 1, 2005: "flakewhite" posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum a link to the student paper of Goucher College with an article by a student who is in an upcoming House episode:
"...the role of Katrina the 'pretty college girl at a frat party,' in an episode called 'Daddy's Boy.'" [Previously called "The Graduate"]
"'In my scene, we are all drinking and having fun and chilling at this party, and after our drinking contest, the three of us (my 'boyfriend', 'best friend,' and me) all high-five each other and hug and say 'Yeah!' and 'Wooo!' because we just won the drinking contest. The two guys hug and compliment each other and just have these huge smiles on their faces. Our best friend [Carnell] gets a shock in his back and thinks that 'Taddy' my boyfriend on the episode, is shocking him with one of those hand shake shocker things. Taddy shows his hands and says, 'I got nothing.'

"Carnell gets shocked again and again and it feels like sharp pains/stabs in his back. He has no idea whose doing it so he starts yelling at the party goers and says, 'Whoever is doing that better cut it out before I.... (gets shocked again, this time falling to his knees) what the hell is going on?'

"I say, 'Maybe there's a short somewhere. The floor's covered with beer.'

"Taddy says, 'It can't be. The outlets are all GFI (safe), plus he's got rubber soled shoes on.' Carnell falls to the ground now in a grand mal seizure........ I say, 'OH MY GOD!' Taddy says, 'Call 9-1-1!' I look at him and say, 'Do something!' And he says, 'Like what?' And Marcell keeps having this huge seizure on the floor as I dial 9-1-1."
September 24, 2005: Chicago Tribune interview with David Shore By Maureen Ryan:
"...House's relationship with Sela Ward's character, his ex-girlfriend Stacy, will be explored and resolved in the first half of the season. 'Obviously, anyone can relate to certain things about love - the thing you love [about someone else] is the same thing you hate. If you take that and apply it to a guy like Dr. House, it's going to be pretty extreme, if you had to live with him,' Shore noted. But wait, don't get any ideas - 'She's not moving in with him, though!'

"What about House's flirtation with a junior doctor on his staff, Dr. Allison Cameron (Chicago native Jennifer Morrison)? 'As for Dr. Cameron, it would be disingenuous to ignore that [attraction]. She has feelings for him, she can't just turn that off. And he has feelings for her too, in a much more subtle way. It'll probably always be there.'

"Expect to see more of Robert Sean Leonard's character, oncologist James Wilson, especially now that the show has revealed that the offices of the two doctors have a connecting balcony. Should viewers assume the balcony was always there? 'Yes,' Shore said with a sheepish laugh.

"Don't expect House to get all mushy and nice. 'TV is a tricky medium,' Shore says. 'People want the lead character to develop, but they also love him the way he is.... the character is what made the show a success. We'd be idiots to change it....'

[Maureen Ryan:] 'What 'House' really is, to me, is about moral questions and human nature, the choices people make in their lives and why they do the things they do -- it's not about the disease of the week.'

"'Thank you for saying that. The medical mysteries have to be good, but to me, this is not a medical show. That is not what is driving it. We need to hang the stories on that, if we didn't have a good medical mystery, we would not have that life and death tension.

'But what we really have is Dr. House talking to us about ethical issues. It's about how people behave in irrational ways, how people act in order to achieve something and fail miserably in doing so, why people deceive themselves. Almost every time they [solve the medical problem] not by spotting a rash but from learning something deeper. That sounds like what the best mystery novels do - examining 'why' is much more important than figuring out 'how.' 'You can do that much more readily in a murder mystery. They're less about methods than motives.'

[Maureen Ryan:] 'So is Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie's frequent acting and writing partner, coming on the show?'

"'We have thought about it, we just have to find the right thing.'"
September 21, 2005: Ausiello of TV Guide says:
"It's official: Cameron and Chase are gonna play doctor in this season's seventh episode. Exec producer David Shore told me so Sunday night just moments after he won the Emmy for best writing in a drama series. 'It's not going to happen the way you think,' he said, 'but it's going to happen.'"
We got this from people posting at Television Without Pity's House Forum.
September 14, 2005: "ferndavant" posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum:
"Well if you've seen the spoilers Wilson's marriage is on the rocks, and his marital problems will feature prominently in later episodes."
The spoiler was the same that Ausiello of TV Guide reported, writing, "I have it on good authority that Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) will experience some marital discord and it'll interfere with his job."
September 12, 2005: "Alipeeps" posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum that there was now a third video on the fox site (see believe):
"...there's a new snippet on the Fox website! More interview bytes with the cast.. this time about the scripts and the medical mysteries on the show.. AND, for once, actually featuring RSL! Woohoo! Oh and Omar Epps being v v cute right at the end.
"One warning though - has a pretty major spoiler for part of the plot of the Season premiere in it."

From Fox's site, Anellie posted this...
"Nice article from my local paper...some quotes...
"[Hugh's] comic touch is often the show's secret weapon. 'Hugh lets us slip it in, in the middle of an emotion,' Shore says.
"Writers begin to assume that Laurie can do anything, Jacobs says. In an upcoming episode, House is juggling with one hand while speaking on the phone in Spanish. There's never a conversation where somebody goes to Hugh and says, "Can you juggle?" or Can you speak Spanish?" There's just this assumption that..he can."
August 17, 2005: Ask Ausiello in TV Guide:
"Question: Is it true that we'll be seeing Dr. House's parents this season? — Marian
Ausiello: It's true! The demon's progenitors will be introduced in the fifth episode of the season...."
August 16, 2005: There is an article in the current (August 21-27) issue of TV Guide:
See a couple of sentences from this.
August 15, 2005: TV Guide:
"While shooting a scene for the Season 2 premiere of House, lovesick doctor Gregory House catches a glimpse of old flame Stacy Warner and instinctively pops a Vicodin. 'I have to take so many pills to deal with this relationship,' the permanently stubbled British actor Hugh Laurie says between takes. 'I feel like I'm going to choke.'

"And the chemistry between the elegant Ward and the idiosyncratic Laurie will only grow more explosive. 'There are real sparks between them,' says creator David Shore. 'We've thrown Stacy into House's world and House into Stacy's world, and we want to see what happens. We'll walk them right up to the precipice and see if they step over it.'

"...'We don't want to turn House into a soap opera,' Shore says. 'But we want it to be real, and fully dimensional people have sex.' ...House has ended his flirtation with underling Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), who'll likely play doctor with... colleague Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer).

"...In the opener, House dupes Stacy into admitting a death row inmate (LL Cool J) to the hospital. 'Almost every scene between us is a confrontation,' Ward says...."
August 9, 2005: a reliable source pointed us to this information from TV Guide:
"HOUSE CALL: Someone new to cuddle with Dr. Cuddy? Ron Livingston (Sex and the City, Office Space) will guest-star on Fox's House this fall as Dr. Sebastian Charles, the head of an international medical relief organization, Variety reports...."

August 4, 2005:
The fifth episode of season 2 "The Graduate"
July 30, 2005: "amysa" posted two links in the House_MD Yahoo Groups List. One is to a Boston Herald article about LL Cool J and other things about upcoming House episodes which said:
"The rapper - real name James Todd Smith - will appear as a death-row inmate with, naturally, a mysterious disease in the season opener of the medical drama 'House.' Elvis Costello will appear in the second episode as himself and will sing. Sela Ward ('Once and Again') will be back for as many as seven episodes as Dr. House's former paramour Stacy Warner.
"Asked why she thought viewers embraced Hugh Laurie's prickly doctor, Ward said, 'It's the irreverence of the character, and he is gorgeous and he's so out of the box.'"
And the other is to Zap2It: Press Tour Tidbits... By Rick Porter, Brill Bundy which says,
  • "Elvis Costello will be on the second episode's soundtrack, singing a cover of -- of all things -- Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful.' Executive producer David Shore says the alt-rock stalwart recorded the song specifically for the show."
  • "The episode is about a young girl who gets sick, Shore says. 'At the beginning of the episode, she's listening to [Aguilera's version of] this song. And at the end of the episode, House [Hugh Laurie] is listening to [Costello's cover]. So we get a really, I think, a lovely bookending.'"
  • "Shore didn't say whether Costello's 'Beautiful' would be released commercially, but it has been cleared for the show's DVD."
July 25, 2005 :
Looks like the title of episode 4 is "TB or Not TB".
July 13, 2005 (2nd post):
Third Episode, "Humpty Dumpty":
July 13, 2005 (1st post):
Second Episode "Autopsy":
July 13, 2005 (1st post): Internet Movie Database says the title of the second episode of Season Two is "Autopsy". And a reliable source says the title of the third episode of Season Two will be "Humpty Dumpty". And TV Guide Online has this information in its "Ask Ausiello" Column:
Question: Got any spoilers for the second season of House? — Nicole
Ausiello: Yeah, I just got off the phone with exec producer David Shore and he told me that LL Cool J will guest-star in the Sept. 13 season premiere as a death row inmate who is felled by — yep, you guessed it — a mysterious ailment. The second episode, meanwhile, almost featured Dakota Fanning as a 9-year-old patient, but the scheduling couldn't be worked out and they ended up going with a newcomer. And Shore assured me that a House/Cameron romance is not out of the question, despite the crabby doc's continued flirtation with recurring guest-star Sela Ward. Their romance has merely been postponed.
June 25, 2005 -
201 Acceptance
From TV Guide, issue June 12-18 (page 9)
Sela Ward is signed on for several episodes next season, so expect House's true love to be around a little longer. As for Ward's on-screen husband—he's still alive and will prove to be a worthy adversary for House. "He realizes what's going on between House and his wife," says executive producer Katie Jacobs, "and he is not going to go down easily."
